Cooling tower rental in the Phoenix area

Trailer-mounted cooling towers that stand in for a building or process tower during repairs, rebuilds, and peak loads. Tell us what you need and we’ll line it up with a vetted local rental company.

What it is

A rental cooling tower rejects heat from a water-cooled chiller plant or process loop by evaporating a small share of the condenser water. It’s the usual answer when a building’s permanent tower is being repaired, re-filled, or replaced, or when a plant needs extra heat rejection through the summer. The dry Phoenix air is good for evaporative heat rejection, but towers use make-up water and need a plan for water treatment and blowdown.

Typical specs

  • Typical capacity: rental towers commonly range from roughly 100 to 1,000 tons or more per unit, and units can be combined for larger plants
  • Power: fans and any pumps typically need 460/480V three-phase power, or a generator where building power isn’t available
  • Hoses & water: condenser water hoses or temporary piping to the plant, a make-up water connection, water treatment, and a drain for blowdown
  • Footprint: usually trailer-mounted and delivered by truck; needs a level, truck-accessible area with clear airflow, and sometimes a crane where the permanent tower sits on a roof

Those are typical ranges, not a sizing. The right unit and quantity depend on your heat load in tons, the power available, and how hot the space gets on the worst afternoon. Get a rough number with the tonnage calculator, and the rental company will confirm it.

What rental cooling towers are used for

  • Standing in for a building cooling tower during repair or replacement
  • Supplemental heat rejection for water-cooled chillers in peak summer
  • Process cooling loops in manufacturing and plastics
  • Pairing with a rental water-cooled chiller on larger temporary plants

Typical Phoenix-area jobs

  • Tower rebuilds and fill replacements scheduled for the cooler months
  • Hospital and campus central plants that can’t go without heat rejection
  • Manufacturing process loops on the east and west sides of the Valley
  • Extra heat rejection when a plant struggles through July and August

Many temporary plants skip the tower entirely with an air-cooled rental chiller. If the space itself needs cooling, pair a chiller with rental air handlers.

What does cooling tower rental cost?

Cooling tower rental is usually quoted weekly or monthly and varies with tonnage, duration, and how the tower ties in. As a rough, commonly cited ballpark, expect from around a thousand to several thousand dollars a week depending on size, plus delivery, hoses or piping, water treatment, power, and any crane or mechanical labor. Why sizing matters in Phoenix

Phoenix summer afternoons routinely run well above 105°F, and air-cooled equipment loses capacity as outdoor temperatures climb. Undersized temporary cooling may keep up in the morning and fall behind by mid-afternoon. Tell the provider your worst-case conditions — sun exposure, roof type, peak occupancy — not just the floor area.

What a provider will ask

  • The space: square footage, ceiling height, type of space, and how many people or how much equipment is in it.
  • Existing system: what failed (if anything) and its tonnage — the nameplate on the existing unit is a great shortcut.
  • Power: what’s available near where the unit would sit (standard outlets, 208/240V, three-phase), or whether a generator is needed.
  • Placement: where the unit can go, how hot exhaust air and condensate will be handled, and how ducts or hoses get inside.
  • Duration and access: start date, expected length, delivery access, and working hours.

How it works

  1. Send the form. For a failure in progress, choose “Emergency” so it’s flagged as urgent.
  2. We line it up with a vetted, licensed and insured local rental company that serves your area and has the right equipment.
  3. The provider contacts you to confirm sizing, power, and logistics, and quotes you directly. There’s no fee to you for using this service.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a cooling tower or an air-cooled chiller?

If your building has water-cooled chillers that still work, a rental tower can keep them running. If the chiller is the problem, or you want a simpler setup, an air-cooled rental chiller replaces both. The provider or your mechanical contractor can recommend one.

How much water does a rental cooling tower use?

Towers lose water to evaporation, drift, and blowdown, so they need a steady make-up supply. Usage rises with the load and the heat. Ask the provider for an estimate at your tonnage and plan the water connection and treatment up front.

Where does the blowdown water go?

Usually to a sanitary sewer connection, which may need approval from the city’s wastewater or pretreatment program. Your provider or mechanical contractor can tell you what your site needs.

Who supplies and installs the equipment?

An independent, licensed and insured local rental company, sometimes working with your mechanical contractor. We pass your request to them; they quote, deliver, and set up the equipment directly with you.
