Common uses
- CRAC/CRAH or chiller failure in a server room or data hall
- Supplemental cooling during peak heat or after added IT load
- Load-bank testing and commissioning on new construction
- Cooling during planned maintenance or mechanical upgrades
Sizing from IT load
Size equipment-room cooling from the electrical load: about 3,412 BTU/hr per kW, and 12,000 BTU/hr per ton — roughly 0.28 tons per kW. A 50 kW room needs on the order of 14 tons before redundancy and margin. Many operators add at least one extra unit (N+1) so a single failure doesn’t take the room down.
Details providers will ask about
- Measured IT load, room layout, and hot/cold aisle arrangement
- Where hot exhaust can be rejected and condensate drained
- Power availability and whether temporary units must be on generator-backed circuits
- Access rules, escorts, and change-management windows
How it works
- Send the form. For a failure in progress, choose “Emergency” so it’s flagged as urgent.
- We line it up with a vetted, licensed and insured local rental company that serves your area and has the right equipment.
- The provider contacts you to confirm sizing, power, and logistics, and quotes you directly. There’s no fee to you for using this service.
